First Real Madrid - Barcelona Clasico could be postponed due to Club World Cup - Goal.com
The first Clasico of the 2011-12 Liga season between Real Madrid and Barcelona is almost certain to be postponed as it will clash with the Catalans' Club World Cup participation. The much-anticipated match is scheduled to take place on December 11, just four days before the Spanish and European champions enter the Club World Cup in Japan. According to Marca.com, the game could be rescheduled for Saturday December 10, although Barcelona would have to approve that date. The second league Clasico takes place on April 22, 2012, which is around the time of the semi-finals of the Champions League. Week one of the new Liga campaign takes place on August 21 with Real Madrid taking on Athletic at the Bernabeu, while Barcelona are away to Malaga. The other games on day one are: Real Sociedad-Atletico Madrid, Espanyol-Granada, Osasuna-Valencia, Villarreal-Sporting, Racing-Getafe, Levante-Zaragoza and Rayo-Mallorca. Meanwhile, Barca and Madrid meet in the second leg of the Supercopa on August 17, with the match scheduled to kick off at 2300 CET at Camp Nou. If the game were to go to extra time and penalties, it would be likely to finish in the early hours of the morning.
